On Sunday 3 May, St John Ambulance (Qld) held the Annual Church Service at the iconic St John’s Cathedral in Brisbane. Among distinguished guests were His Excellency The Honourable Paul de Jersey AC KStJ, Deputy Prior of The Order of St John, Professor Mark Compton AM KStJ, Chancellor of the Priory in Australia of the Order of St John and National CEO Peter LeCornu KStJ.

 

Nadine Uhlhorn from JCU Division was admitted to the Order of St John by the Governor of Queensland, His Excellency, The Honourable Paul de Jersey in recognition of her dedicated service to St John Ambulance (Qld).

 

Sam Maudsley from Medical Services was awarded the St John Save a Life for contributing through the application of first aid skills to saving the life of another person.

 

Rafael Mathiuet from Western Suburbs Division received the Grand Prior’s Badge which is awarded to members who have completed twelve proficiency badges and held membership for at least three years.

 

Holli Bisset from Gold Coast Division received the Mark Compton (KOTO) Prize which is awarded annually to a Cadet for the Knowledge of the Order Project undertaken as part of the Proficiency Badge Program.

 

Charlie Carroll from Gold Coast Division received the Brian Dunstan Prize which is awarded annually to the runner-up of the Mark Compton Prize.

 

Janette Schulte, Serena Reeves and Darryl Rice received the Fourth Bar to the Service Medal, representing 32 years of dedicated service.

 

Lorraine McAuley received the Second Bar to the Service Medal, representing 27 years of dedicated service.

 

Paul Neuendorf received the First Bar to the Service Medal, representing 17 years of dedicated service.

 

Paul Cantarella, Peter Newman, Roslyn Rice, Margaret Straughair, Phyllis Taylor and Belinda Vanderwilt received Service Medals in recognition of 12 years of dedicated service to St John Ambulance (Qld).

 

Jan Mason received a 20 year Staff Service Award.

 

Kylee Noble received a 10 Year Service Award.

 

St John Ambulance (Qld) Acting CEO Noel Gillard OAM CStJ said the strength of the organisation was reflected through the commitment of its volunteers and salaried staff.

 

“Without the complete dedication of our community based volunteers and our salaried staff, St John Ambulance (Qld) would not be able to continue providing vital and essential services to the Queensland community – I sincerely thank each and every one of them.”
