The St John Ambulance (Qld) Caboolture Division recently received funding for more than $13,000 as part of the Queensland Government Gambling Community Benefit Fund. The money will be used to purchase a much needed trailer for the Division to use at events and disaster activations across the Caboolture and Moreton Bay areas.

Divisional Manager Sandy Wyburn said the trailer would make a significant difference to the day-to-day duties of the Division, and would prove invaluable in the event of a disaster.

“The Division identified the need for a trailer as our emergency equipment continues to grow – at any duty across South East Queensland, we can stock stretchers, defibrillators, heavy oxygen equipment, advanced medical assistance kits and radio communications,” she said.

“All of this equipment is quite bulky and difficult to fit in most vehicles.”

The Division also respond to emergency management calls for help in times of disaster such as flood or cyclone.

“Already this year, the Caboolture shire has witnessed extreme weather with flooding and high winds. With this new trailer, it will enable us to activate an emergency team quicker than ever to ensure residents are kept safe and receive the medical assistance they need,” Sandy said.

“We are so thankful to Mark Ryan, MP for Morayfield for his continued support to our Division and for assisting in the funding for this trailer.

The Caboolture Division boasts more than 55 members, ranging from ages 9 to over 65 years. The Division attend many duties across the region including the Abbey Medieval Festival, Caboolture Show, ANZAC Day ceremonies and rodeos.
