A teenager whose life was saved recently by a St John Ambulance (Qld) member is saying thank you and wants to spread the message of staying safe.
For most 18 year olds, the first point of call is a night out on the town filled with cocktails, music, dancing and fun with friends but for Aspley resident Cassidy Mills, her first night out almost turned into a nightmare.
While recently partying in the Brisbane city, Cassidy required emergency assistance from St John (Qld) paramedics.
“St John (Qld) crews found Cassidy passed out in a club – she had been robbed of all her money and her phone – she was helpless,” Cassidy’s mother, Peggy said.
“The St John Ambulance (Qld) crew came to her aid immediately, and ensured she was safe and got the help she needed.”
Cassidy was safely transported to her apartment, but said it could have been a different story had St John Ambulance (Qld) crews not been there.
“St John really did save my life – I will think twice next time I go out with my friends and have too many drinks.”
St John Ambulance (Qld) paramedic Jeff Brown said it was a common site for young people to overdo it while out at the clubs.
“Too often we see young 18 year olds drinking a bit too much – thankfully for Cassidy and her family, this story had a happy ending.”
St John Ambulance (Qld) urges all party goers to pace themselves, stay together and if help is needed, call triple zero for an ambulance.
“You won’t get in trouble if you call for an ambulance – crews are here to help you and ensure you arrive home safely.”
