St John Ambulance (Qld) is proud to announce regular first aid courses are now being run in the South Burnett area.
Regional Manager Jan Mason said the exciting new venture was in response to a growing need in the community.
“Most people, particularly those with families or specific health problems, want to know what to do in an emergency,” she said.
Jan said having basic first aid skills was vital, particularly when emergency services can take up to 12 minutes or more to arrive on scene.
“In an emergency, 90% of lives are saved by people who know first aid,” she said.
Course topics include CPR, choking, burns, management of asthma and anaphylaxis, spinal injuries, bites and stings, defibrillation and more.
“Our first aid courses will equip local residents with the knowledge as well as confidence to administer a range of first aid, from helping someone who is choking, to more advanced situations such as a major car accident.”
St John (Qld) first aid courses are currently running every two weeks, with workplace training available to be conducted on-site or at a St John venue.
“When you train with St John, you receive more than just a first aid certificate – we equip you with the confidence to administer first aid to save the life of a friend, family member, colleague or stranger,” Jan said.
